Locals joined at Hoghton Tower to do some Christmas Shopping while supporting small businesses.

With the popularity of the Hoghton Tower Christmas Market making a buzz on social media, the car park became full in just under half an hour. This forced people to park on Hoghton Lane and then make a brisk half a mile walk, uphill, to the Tower.

St Catherine’s Hospice and North West Blood Bikes Lancashire and Lakes were in attendance to help to raise money for their individual charities.

A local trader from The Bee Centre said, “We are so happy to be back at Hoghton Tower for their Christmas Market and hope that everyone enjoys sampling our local produce.”

There were more than 50 stalls in total, including traders such as The Laser Fox, Wooflick Bakery, Keep It Sweet and Cheesy Bombs, which made for a large range of goodies to purchase.

At 1:30pm there was a performance from the Broughton Bell ringers which chimed around the tower walls, quickly drawing in an audience.

Local resident, Bill Knoblet, said “I have lived in Hoghton for most of my life and have never seen it so vibrant and full of life. There are people of all ages here enjoying the snow and the great food.”

All proceeds from the admission fees went to the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust.
